Business of Fashion:Who is who?

For some of you, that are very interested in fashion industry this will be old news and maybe someone won't be interested in this topic... But I like to know  this stuff. 
World of luxury fashion is owned by conglomerates. Let's get started with some big names:

LVMH stands for Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy. They are the largest luxury goods conglomerate and in 2009 they made over 17 billion euros in sales. The largest shareholder is Groupe Arnault (Bernard Arnault’s family holding company) but here is where things get confusing…Christian Dior (owned by Groupe Arnault) and owns over 40% of LVMH. What does this mean for Christian Dior? That they get to have more fun, since they don’t have LVMH’s financial people telling them they can’t hold extravagant runway shows and blow extraordinary amounts of money on things. Anyway, LVMH pretty much owns the luxury world, and now they are trying to get their hands on Hermès. The news from March of 7th tells us that LVMH is going to take the controlling stake of Italian jewelry maker Bvlgari.

Anyway, here are the fashion and beauty brands that LVMH owns: Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Céline, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Donna Karan, Emilio Pucci, TAG Heuer, De Beers, Christian Dior perfumes, Benefit Cosmetics, Acqua di Parma, Guerlain and more! Plus they own Sephora, Le Bon Marché. and tons of fancy wine, champagne, and liquor brands.

Za pojedine koji su upoznati sa modnom industijom ovo će biti stara vest, a pojedine možda ovo neće ni zanimati... U svakom slucaju ja sam ekonomista i volim da znam ko je ko u modnoj industriji.
Kada govorimo o luksuznoj modi, tu se sve vrti oko konglomerata, pa pocnimo sa velikim imenima

LVMH oznacava grupaciju Louis Vuitton, Moet, Hennesy. Oni su najveci konglomaret u modnoj industriji u u 2009 godini su imali obrt preko 19 milijardi eura. Vecinski vlasnik je Grupa Arnoult, porodicna kompanija Bernarda Arnoulta... Mada kada je Christian Dior u pitanju tu postaju svtari malo zbunjujuce. Naime, Christian Dior koji je u vlasnistvu Grupe Arnoult poseduje 40% akcija LVMH. Da li to znači da Dior moze ta troši velike količine novca na revije, dogadjaje i promocija, a da mu niko od ljudi zaduzenih za finansije LVMH ne progovara? Verovatno! Poslednja vest od 7-og marta ove godine je da LVMH preuzima većinski paket akcija Italijanskog proizvodjača nakita Bvlgari.

Brendovi koji se nalaze i sklopu LVMH grupe su: Louis Vuittin, Loewe, Celine, Christian Dior,Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Fendi, Donna Karan,Emilio Pucci, Tag Heuer, Benefit Cosmetics, Aqua di Parma, Guerlain, Sephora, kao i gomilu proizodjaca prestižnih vina, šampanjca i alkoholnog pića.

PPR is another one of the big conglomerates, who own the Gucci Group. Their CEO, Francois-Henri Pinault, is married to Salma Hayek. She has a great access to clothes, don't you think… Gucci Group owns Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Sergio Rossi, and Boucheron, Puma,

PPR  je sledeci na listi velikih konglomerata. On poseduje i Gucci Grupu. CEO PPR-a je Francois - Henri Pinault muz Salme Hayek. Ona stvarno ima fenomenalan bristup brendovima zar ne? Gucci Grupa poseduje Gucci, Alexander Mcqueen, Stella McCartney, YSL, Bottega Venetta, Balenciaga, Sergio Rossi, Boucheron, Pumu.

Richemont a Swiss group, is the third of the major luxury conglomerates. They own brands such as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Lancel, Montblanc, Chloé, Shanghai Tang, Azzedine Alaia, and their most recent acquisition, Net A Porter . Net A Porter is the most successful online luxury retailer in the world, and they sell a lot of the brands owned by LVMH and PPR, however Richemont now has control over the brand.

Richemont je Svajcarska grupa koja je treca u svetu luksuznih konglomerata. Oni poseduju Cartier, Van Cleef&Arples, Lancel, Montblanc,Chloe, Azzedina Alaia i Net A Porter. Net a Porter je najuspesniji on line prodavac luksuzne robe. Oni prodaju i brendove koji su u posedu LVMH i PPR.
